Open, Shared and private servers
Minesight has three levels. Each is for a parent to choose, and each child is named by a parent.
Open: free
Free servers for registered players, one for ages 12 and under and one for ages 13 to 17. Gameplay is limited, the world is smaller and chat is limited and watched. They are a way to have a look. Java Edition only. How the open servers work.
Shared: from 99p a month for each player
The paid level, with one server for ages 12 and under at 99p a month for each player (billed for at least two players, so 1.98 pounds a month at the least), and one for ages 13 to 17 at 1.99 pounds a month for each player. You get more of the game and a larger world than on the open servers. Every player on a Shared server is registered by a parent, but you do not choose who else is on it. On the kids server chat is only between friends that both parents have approved, and on the teen server chat is between registered players. Players can see which friends are online with !friends and go to one with !join and their name. Java Edition, Xbox, PlayStation, iPad and phone are all included.
Private: an addition to Shared
A private server is an addition to the Shared server for the same ages, so you hold both. It has its own world and a guest list of only the players you name. It is one price for the whole server, not for each child: 3.99 pounds a month for up to 4 players aged 12 and under, or 5.99 pounds a month for up to 6 players aged 13 to 17, on top of Shared. Use the same email address as your Shared membership, and name only players who are already on it.
How the pieces fit
- One person pays: a parent or guardian aged 18 or over.
- Adding or removing a player on Shared changes the monthly total. To add a player, sign up to Shared again with the same email address and name the new player.
- Extras from the extras shop are cosmetic and need a parent's approval.
