How the free open servers work

Minesight runs two open servers, one for children aged 12 and under and one for teens aged 13 to 17. They are free to join and are meant as a place to try Minesight before choosing a paid server. They are not a replacement for the paid servers, which keep their own worlds and guest lists.

Who can chat

Chat friends

Two players can only be chat friends if both of their parents agree by email. Parents manage this from the link in any Minesight email, under Chat friends. A parent can remove a friend at any time.

What parents will see

In game, players may see short notes addressed to parents about the paid servers, seasonal events and a free taster of cosmetics. These are paced so they are not constant. Nothing is ever bought in game. Any purchase needs a parent to approve it by email first.

Joining

Open servers need Java Edition. Shared servers, the paid next step, also work on Xbox, PlayStation, iPad and phone. See how to connect with Java Edition. The server address is shown on the home page when an open server is running.
