Java Edition or Bedrock Edition
Minecraft comes in two editions. Minesight runs Java Edition, which plays on Windows, Mac and Linux computers. Bedrock Edition, the version on consoles, tablets and phones, cannot connect to Minesight.
How to tell which you have
- If your child plays on a console, a tablet or a phone, it is Bedrock.
- If they play on a computer, open the Minecraft Launcher. If it offers Java Edition, you have it. Some computers have both editions installed, and the Launcher lists them separately.
Can we switch?
Java Edition is a separate purchase from Bedrock, so check what your account includes before signing up. Minecraft's own pages at minecraft.net/help give the current details.
