Play Minesight on Xbox, PlayStation, iPad or phone
These devices run Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Bedrock players can join the same Minesight server as the Java players, at no extra cost. Console and tablet access is included in every paid membership. Every gamertag has to be named by the parent, in the same way as Java usernames, and each one counts as one of the players in the plan. The same guest list, chat monitor and house rules apply.
Console and tablet access is not open yet. Check back soon.
iPad and phone
- Open Minecraft and choose Play, then Servers.
- Scroll to the bottom and choose Add Server.
- Enter any name, for example Minesight. For the address enter your Minesight address and for the port enter the port shown on your settings page (Shared kids server), the port shown on your settings page (Shared teen server), the port shown on your settings page (private family server) or the port shown on your settings page (private teen server).
- Save, then select Minesight and join.
Xbox and PlayStation
Consoles have no Add Server screen, so the console is pointed at a Minesight DNS address. It answers only for the names of a few popular servers and sends the console to a Minesight menu. Everything else on the internet carries on as normal.
- On the console open Settings, then Network, and choose to set up the connection by hand (the menus are named a little differently on each console).
- Set the primary DNS to the address on your settings page. Set the secondary DNS to 8.8.8.8.
- Open Minecraft, choose Play, then Servers, and join one of the featured servers, for example The Hive.
- A Minesight menu opens. Choose the Minesight server for your level and ages.
The secondary DNS keeps the console working for everything else. If the menu does not open, check both DNS addresses, restart the console's network connection, and try a second featured server.
What console and tablet access does and does not do
- Each gamertag is on the guest list only while the membership is active. Remove a gamertag or switch console access off from your settings page and access ends within a minute or two.
- Bedrock players appear in game with a dot in front of the name, for example .Gamertag, and the chat monitor watches them like every other player.
- Console players are not linked to Java accounts, so a Bedrock player can never take another player's name.
- Players on the free open servers use Java Edition. Console and tablet access covers the paid Shared and private servers.
- Gamertags that end in a number sign and digits are not supported yet.
